WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR YOUR BOAT, TWO TYPICAL APPLICATIONS.
The Following diagram shows the typical alternator charging system.
The Following diagram shows an AC charging system using a zener shunt regulator.

Current From The Outboard Motor For Battery Charging.
If your current is from the O/B Motor it may well be un-rectified and supplied as AC current. In which case you will need one of these units. Most 5HP and 6 HP Outboard motors output AC current of 12 volts at 7 amps (80 watts). If this is so you will be able to recharge the battery but you will need a Rectifier / Regulator like the one shown below. If you buy one for fitting to the outboard motor the unit will cost £40.00.
This item does the same job and is installed separate from the outboard motor unit and is a lot cheaper.

Typical combined Rectifier / Regulator unit for outboard motor use.
As the outboard avaiable amperage available is relatively low at 7 amps a typical Rectifier / Regulator unit as used on a 350 cc motorcycle would be adequate. This may not charge the battery as quickly as a diesel engine's higher amperage alternator but will do all that you need for lighting purposes. Typical colour scheme for one of these is Green to AC, White to AC. Brown 12V+ to battery and Black 12V- to battery.
I have not tested this unit yet but will try one out next season. If successfull they will be £17.00 each incl. P&P.

THREE POSITION BILGE PUMP SWITCH PANEL
Wiring
Instructions.
The
bilge pump can be activated by the panel switch in two ways.
MANUAL: This
is a momentary ON switch, which allows the operator to control the operation
of the pump by bypassing the float switch.
The RED light will show when the switch is depressed to the right.
The switch automatically returns (springs back) to OFF when released.
Cut a 43mm hole (11/16 x 2 5/16) in the dashboard
Wire the positive lead from the battery to the back of the fuse holder.
Connect one lead from the float switch to one of the terminals on the back of the switch.
Connect the
other
wire from the switch in series with the pump and connect the other
terminal
on the switch as shown in the diagram.
